Ros Ellis

Volunteer

Ros, a Royal Alfred volunteer, is a retired nursing sister and occupational health worker and now lives at Weston Acres as a tenant with her husband Les, who also volunteers for the Society.

An important part of Ros’s role is being a ‘Dementia Champion’ within the home, supporting relatives whose family members are suffering from dementia and care staff in the dementia unit. The main purpose of this role is to offer care and support and show an understanding to the residents and their families.

Ros has always shown a keen interest in volunteering, including working at the Citizens Advice Bureau and getting involved with other caring organisations. She is always on hand to help residents in any activities they may be taking part in.

Being a naval wife and having lived in Singapore and Hong Kong, Ros has a special connection with the residents and enjoys reminiscing with them.
