A caring community for retired seafarers
Set on the same estate as Belvedere House, Weston Acres Sheltered Housing offers a peaceful and independent lifestyle, with the comfort of community and reassurance of support close by.
Designed exclusively for retired seafarers and their spouse or partner, our secure, self-contained apartments provide the perfect balance of privacy, companionship, and convenience. Here, you can continue to enjoy life on your own terms, while enjoying the benefits of our shared facilities.
With the guidance of our dedicated Tenant Liaison Lead, and the option to transfer to Belvedere House should your health needs change, Weston Acres Sheltered Housing offers a home for today, with peace of mind for tomorrow.
What you can expect at Weston Acres
Independence, comfort, and peace of mind. We know this is what matters most – and it’s what we’re proud to provide.
Modern and well-maintained accommodation
Some of our accommodation is within the stunning, Grade II-listed Weston Acres House, with the remainder in purpose-built apartments nearby at Belvedere House.
We offer:
- 10 ensuite rooms in Weston Acres House
- 9 bedsits
- 3 two-bedroom apartments
Each flat is self-contained with a kitchenette, bathroom, TV and phone points plus wifi, wheelchair access, central heating, and fitted carpets. Otherwise, they’re unfurnished so you can bring your own furniture and create a home that feels like you.
Monthly rents range from £590 (bedsit) to £1,190 (two-bedroomed flat).
While we love animals – and even have resident guinea pigs at Belvedere House – we’re unable to accommodate pets in our sheltered housing.
Shared facilities & onsite support
Tenants have access to shared spaces across the estate, including the Royal Alfred Club Bar, where you can enjoy a drink, join in activities, or collect a freshly cooked lunch.
With a cosy library, landscaped grounds, and a shared self-service laundry room, you’ll find plenty of comfort and convenience. Our onsite maintenance team keeps things running smoothly, and our Tenant Liaison Lead is available for day-to-day support.
Although we don’t offer housekeeping services, we can point you toward trusted local providers. With Banstead and Reigate nearby, there’s plenty of choice.
Your monthly rent covers utilities, maintenance, insurance, and upkeep of all communal areas.
A caring, connected community
Tenants are part of a wider community and are always welcome to use the facilities in Belvedere House. Many get involved with resident events, join in the activities, or volunteer to help support others.
Weston Acres is a place where friendships flourish and shared seafaring stories often spark new ones. Nautical artefacts, paintings and memorabilia throughout the estate honour the proud maritime tradition we continue to celebrate today.
Our sheltered housing is intended for long-term tenants and often becomes a pathway into care, should support needs change over time.
Meet Peter Troy – a Weston Acres tenant since 2022
Known affectionately as “Repete” at the Royal Alfred Club Bar, Pete enjoys nothing more than sharing stories from his time
at sea.
“I feel incredibly fortunate to be part of such a warm and welcoming maritime community. The staff and management are kind and supportive, and I’ve made great friends throughout. The day trips are always a highlight – well organised and thoroughly enjoyable. Two that really stand out for me were visiting Tower Hill for Merchant Navy Day and attending the Wimbledon tennis tournament.”

Words of appreciation
Real voices, real impact – here’s what our tenants have to say:

Volunteering gives me a buzz
Volunteering for me is about showing all our residents they are individuals, and we value them for their contribution to our community. Each comes with their own unique stories, experiences and skills which help make our Royal Alfred family a happy, diverse place to live.
Liz Lord, Sheltered Housing Tenant & Royal Alfred Volunteer

A lovely community
I love my flat and the views of the beautiful grounds. The cooked lunches are also very nice. My favourite memory is attending the Annual National Service for Seafarers at St Paul’s Cathedral. It was a very moving service and an honour to be part of it.

An opportunity to serve
I feel privileged to be able to assist the people who, although live independently, may need a helping hand in their everyday lives.
