Maritime Charity Sails to Success at Awards Ceremony

Banstead-based care home, the Royal Alfred Seafarers’ Society has sailed to success after taking home two awards at this year’s prestigious Surrey Care Association Awards for its work caring for former mariners and their dependants. The Society picked up ‘Care Provider of the Year’, as well as individual recognition for its Deputy Clinical Manager, Dorota Sefarin, who won the award of Frontline Leader of the Year.

In a highly competitive category the Royal Alfred Seafarers’ Society fought off stiff competition and was awarded ‘Care Provider of the Year,’ recognising the Society’s enthusiasm and determination when identifying and meeting the needs of service users, carers, staff and the wider community. The category further sought care providers that have demonstrated an exceptional approach to social care services and the ability to develop a capable, confident and skilled workforce to ensure the highest levels of care.

Royal Alfred Maritime Charity Award Win

Royal Alfred Seafarers’ Society Home Manager, Anne Kasey, said: “I am so tremendously proud of what the Home has achieved. Such recognition further cements the incredible effort and commitment all of our staff members dedicate in making the Home such a wonderful place to work and live.”

The good news didn’t stop there for the Society with its Deputy Clinical Manager, Dorota Sefarin, recognised for her commitment and dedication to the home with the ‘Frontline Leader of the Year’ award, celebrating the efforts and achievements of an individual to improve the delivery of care and support within an establishment.

Dorota said: “I am absolutely overjoyed at the award win and I am so proud to manage such a wonderful and committed team. Working with such talented and dedicated colleagues is a privilege and without their support we would not be able to provide such a high standard of car to our residents.”

The Awards, run by the Surrey Care Association and first held in 2008, recognise the outstanding dedications of individuals and teams working within the adult social care sector. On Friday 19 November the eighth annual award ceremony took place at Epsom Downs Racecourse and welcomed more than 350 care professionals from the Surrey area.

Royal Alfred Seafarers’ Society Chief Executive, Commander Brian Boxall-Hunt said: “It has been a triumphant year for the Society, firstly in receiving a resounding GOOD rating it our latest Care Quality Commission (CQC) and secondly with the double award win at the Surrey Care Association Awards. I am extremely proud of the entire team and these recent achievements pay testament to everyone’s commitment and dedication in providing the very best care to those who call Royal Alfred Home.”
