Volunteers
The Royal Alfred Seafarers’ Society is always looking for volunteers to offer a helping hand to our residents and staff. We have a strong network of local volunteers who help with befriending and socialising with residents, running activities and gardening.
Volunteers can spend as many hours as they want at the home, with work flexible to accommodate individual interests – whether it’s serving drinks behind the bar or tending to the flower beds, there is something for everyone.
Volunteer Pam Jarvie dedicates around four days a week of her free time to helping out around Belvedere House. She spends time sitting and talking with residents, escorting them to hospital and organising events within the home.
Pam started volunteering during the years her father was a resident at the care home. She decided to continue her service to help other residents in the same way she helped her own father and in 2015 received the Surrey Care Association’s Unsung Hero Award for the help and support she offers to all aspects of daily life at the Society.
